A super cute bar, especially the bartending area. They serve craft cocktails each grouped together in a small theme like "Weather" for their dark and stormy. I liked their "Ballard" poster too. Looking forward to coming back.
So glad I took the chance on this little hide out. A super cute bar, especially the bartending area. Hazelwood is stroller-free and smoker-friendly. It's a tiny place with an elegantly dingy upstairs lounge and a small sidewalk seating area. The bartenders are meticulous and skilled, so there may be a short wait for your drinks--these things aren't coming out of a well gun, you know! Best of all is the all-day Sunday happy hour. Drop by for a drink after shopping the Ballard Sunday Farmers Market. After a morning of organic veggie shopping, pure-bred dogs and folk music; Hazelwood is just what the doctor ordered.
Ballard feeling a little too wholesome lately? Often full of people on a weekend night, but always worth giving up elbow room for those amazing drinks. Even just a whisky ginger awes my tastebuds there. This is a great place to not be shy and make acquiantance with someone. Really super carved skulls on the walls...up high.
Sexy atmosphere. Ballard’s own France. The chandeliers are quite fancy and for some reason the bar area reminded me a little of Grim's on Capitol Hill but smaller. The cocktails are stiff so you definitely get your money's worth. The upstairs area was a bit empty when our group came in on a Saturday evening and we did a little feng shui so that we could make room for all of us. They didn't seem to mind that we moved one of the couches over to the other side with the table. That was convenient! I'd definitely come back here for drinks because it's a nice spot to catch up with an old friend or something. It's chill and not as crazy as BalMar or the other neighborhood bars in the area.
I really have to agree with most of the reviewers’ reviews because this place is a small speakeasy-type bar with two floors and one bathroom. Their drinks are consistent and good quality. I actually love the fact that it is small and cozy. Hazlewood has been a regular favorite of mine for about three years now, and I have always been pleased.
Hazlewood is my secret hide-out; my little home away from home where I can relax & unwind. 22781 review-craft-bar-lifts-cocktail-artisan craft-bar-lifts-cocktail-artisan http://www.hazlewood.feedback/review-craft-bar-lifts-cocktail-artisan 10 10 10 0 0 0 This craft bar lifts the cocktail to artisan status. The bartenders are skillful, creative and helpful. The decor is French-quarter meets northwest quirkiness and the menu is a list of unique but delicious mixes of gin, lillet-blanc, prosecco and the full rainbow of fruity accents. In grand hipster fashion, the house drink comes with a chocolate truffle and a cigarette. Fun place to wind down after a night of antics or great place to start off a classy ladies night. It is tiny, but there is a small patio and a loft upstairs.
This craft bar lifts the cocktail to artisan status. The bartenders are skillful, creative and helpful. 22779 review-heard-craft-cocktail-bar-ballard heard-craft-cocktail-bar-ballard http://www.hazlewood.feedback/review-heard-craft-cocktail-bar-ballard 1699 10 10 10 0 0 0 When I heard that there was a craft cocktail bar in Ballard, I had to try it out, after all, Ballard is more noted for beer and darts than mixed drinks. Located on the main drag of Market, there is a small patio of outdoor standing room, and once busy, the bar needs it because Hazlewood is a very small storefront, with only four stools at the bar. Very cozy. Okay, so I was very early for any crowd and got a stool. There is a printed menu with old and revived classics on one side and newer concoctions on the other. I ultimately had three, and they all were great. The last one was unplanned, but hey, the guy next to me bought me one. That doesn't happen to me often! Did I mention that Ballard is friendly? And so is Hazlewood! When the bar was hopping I noticed that there were as many patrons with beers as with cocktails, and the casual Friday dress code was enforced. (Yeah, dress code... jeans and a top for Ballard) Very comfortable, very friendly place. And there is a cave of sorts upstairs. Actually, a loft lined with seating or standing. Kinda cool in a dark and mysterious way. I'm sticking with 5 stars, because I like small bars.
When I heard that there was a craft cocktail bar in Ballard, I had to try it out, after all, Ballard is more noted for beer and darts than mixed drinks. 22772 review-stumbled-place-gf-looking-late stumbled-place-gf-looking-late http://www.hazlewood.feedback/review-stumbled-place-gf-looking-late 10 10 10 0 0 0 We stumbled upon this place when my gf was looking for a late-night speakeasy style of bar. And man did this deliver. It wasn't too difficult to find, but it's fairly small for most bars. Show up early (or late like us) to get a seat upstairs. There was only one person working the whole bar, but he's serious. I can't recall what my gf had, but I ordered the Blood and Sand. Wow, that was a good, but stiff drink. Did I say we LOVED the atmosphere?
We stumbled upon this place when my gf was looking for a late-night speakeasy style of bar. And man did this deliver. It wasn’t too difficult to find, but it’s fairly small for most bars. Show up early (or late like us) to get a seat upstairs. There was only one person working the whole bar, but he’s serious. I can’t recall what my gf had, but I ordered the Blood and Sand. Wow, that was a good, but stiff drink.
