When you walk into a small bar for the first time on a REALLY warm night and realize that most of the seating in said small bar is UPSTAIRS. I could just feel the stuffiness without walking all the way inside and wondered how 9 of us were going to fit up there...And what we would all smell like after. I ordered my drink downstairs (what an interesting set-up. A person would come out from behind the bar to get our drink orders, then walk back behind the bar and work with the other bartender to get the drinks out. Not the fastest process, but it seemed to work.) Then, I stood at the bottom of the stairs; drink in hand, woefully and repeatedly sighing, then put on my "I'll deal with it" face. I trudged up...slowly...so slowly. But vas ist das!! Is that cool air that I feel blowing throughout the cozy quarters?? I'll be darned. It totally was. I looked at the comfy leather seats and silently thanked the air conditioning gods that I wouldn't be sticking to my seat like a flystrip. And though small, we all fit on the couches, chairs and footstools arranged just-so, with a few other groups as well. Also, the music is fantastic here; it definitely added to the already existing cool factor. The drink service may be slow, but they are genuinely cool and kind. I'll take that over fast and being a pompous womp any day. <p>You know that feeling.
